Arthur Levitt Renowned Economist
Session: First General Session - The Future of America's Capital Markets
Join former United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Arthur Levitt as he gives his perspective and
outlook for global and domestic capital markets. Some of the topics to be discussed include recent developments and trends
in corporate governance/corporate financial disclosure; Sarbanes Oxley and the SEC's role; Role of FASB; Hedge Fund regulations
and impact to mortgage markets and much more. Mr. Levitt will also discuss his views on preemption.
Chairman Levitt was the 25th Chairman of the SEC and with a focus on investor protection, he was the longest serving Chairman
in the Commission’s history. Prior to joining the Commission, Levitt owned Roll Call, a newspaper that covers Capitol Hill,
and he also served as the Chairman of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, as well as Chairman of the American
Stock Exchange. Levitt is the author of two books; Take On the Street: What Wall Street and Corporate America Don't Want
You to Know, and Take on the Street: How to Fight for Your Financial Future. A proven expert in his field, Levitt also served
two years in the Air Force.
